On November 22, 1963, President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas, during a motorcade. He was shot while riding in an open car and died from his injuries at Parkland Hospital. The official investigation, the Warren Commission, concluded that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone, shooting Kennedy from a sixth-floor window of the Texas School Book Depository.

HC says surrogacy using donor gametes can’t be prohibited as a condition in the consent form.
The High Court of Karnataka has ruled that a consent form disallowing surrogacy with donor gametes goes against the Surrogacy (Regulation) Act, 2021. The court allowed 12 couples to pursue surrogacy using donor female gametes, emphasizing that a consent form cannot override the law. It found a specific clause in Form No-2 of the surrogacy regulations to be contrary to the law but refrained from declaring it illegal, as the matter is pending before the top court.

SC calls for collaborative efforts to bring children into the adoption pool.
The Supreme Court has directed the identification of children in childcare institutions with unfit or absent parents for over a year and their inclusion in the adoption pool. An “unfit guardian” is described as someone unable or unwilling for parenting due to various reasons. The court instructed states and union territories to conduct bi-monthly drives starting December 7, 2023, to identify such children and compile adoption data by January 31.
