COP-28

Delhi High Court on EWS quota with income limit

  • The Delhi High Court on Tuesday ordered that the existing income threshold of Rs. 1 lakh per annum, for admissions under Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category in schools in the city, be increased to Rs. 5 lakhs, till an amendment is made by Delhi Government in the 2011 reservation scheme.

103rd Amendment Act

  • The Parliament amended the Constitution of India (103rd Amendment) Act, 2019 to provide for a 10% reservation in education and government jobs in India for a section of the General category candidates.

Prime Minister paid homage to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar on Mahaparinirvan Diwas

  • 6thDecember is observed to commemorate the unfathomable contribution to society given by Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and his achievements. Owing to Ambedkar’s status as a Buddhist leader, his death anniversary is referred to as Mahaparinirvan Diwas.
  • He was born in1891 in Mhow, Central Province (now Madhya Pradesh)
  • He is known as the Father of the Indian Constitution and  the Chairman of the Drafting Committee for the new Constitution.
