On January 2, 1492, Granada, the last Moorish stronghold in Spain, was surrendered to the Catholic Monarchs Ferdinand II and Isabella I, marking the end of the Reconquista. Subsequently, in the same year, Ferdinand and Isabella signed the Alhambra Decree, leading to the expulsion of the Jewish population from Spain.
