What-should-be-the-mindset-of-a-clat-student

What should be the mindset of a CLAT student?

Now that you have taken the decision of writing CLAT, you must prepare yourself to face each and every challenge head-on and overcome them! Owing to the increasing competitiveness for a limited number of seats available in national law schools, CLAT is considered to be one of the toughest exams to crack. However, if you are serious and passionate about studying at your dream college, nothing can stop you.

Before you start with your preparation, you must acquaint yourself with the fact that your academic performance in school would not determine your performance in the exam. CLAT is an aptitude-based exam and everyone has to start preparing for it from the start. You might be a school topper, but that doesn’t mean that you’ll easily crack CLAT. Hard work and consistency is the ultimate key to achieving success.

You might have many highs and lows during your preparation journey, especially after seeing your low mock score. You should not let your mock scores bring your spirits down even for a second. Instead, focus on learning from your mistakes as much as you can. Re-attempt the questions you got wrong on the first try and ensure that you never repeat them again. Having a positive outlook is very important at this time. Only a healthy and balanced mental state can let you strive for greatness.

It is possible to feel worn out or tired from the monotonous routine. You might even decide to take a break from your preparation to relax your mind. While it is not wrong to have some time to yourself and take a breather, you must not completely cut yourself off from studies for a long time. A break of two days should be enough to relax and come back to routine. In these two days, treat yourself fully and do not stress at all.

If you have a study group or you know your peers giving the same exam, be mindful of the people you interact with. You will come across many types of people.  Try to learn from people whom you think can contribute to your progress. However, don’t get trapped in this toxicity of trying to do everything you are supposed to only because of the people around. Remember, your decision to write CLAT is yours only. Never let anybody else’s opinions or advice distract you from your end goal. Be determined enough to not derail your preparation due to frivolous externalities.

Lastly, don’t go too harsh on yourself. Pace your studies according to your convenience but also keep in mind that you are able to finish the syllabus timely. If you burn yourself out too soon, you won’t be able to keep up with your preparation. You must make a flexible timetable which allows you to have some free time. Stressing out too much can be a bane and retard the process of learning.
