Why should you prefer studying at an NLU to pursue Law?

Pursuing Law from a National Law University is a dream of many students in India, nonetheless; only a few of them are able to fulfill this target as there is only a limited number of seats available and very tough competition to fight. So, you might have a question as to why students want to pursue law from an NLU so badly when there are so many colleges offering the same course. Here are five things that show why NLU is an ideal choice to pursue law-

  1. Academic-oriented environment- A good environment to study is a very crucial element for a student because many things are dependent on this factor itself. NLUs do provide a very academically motivated environment because most of the students who are studying there are competitive in nature and are thriving towards performing their level best. So, when students see other people around them working so hard, the whole environment gets synched in the same way. This helps in boosting the morale of a student and fuels them with motivation to perform well.
  2. Availability of resources- As NLUs are particularly created to foster legal knowledge amongst students, the whole resources that are available are used exclusively for promoting the law. The libraries are always updated with the best and most reputed law journals and books. Similarly, the students are also provided with remote access to all the legal news portals, etc. Therefore in NLUs, there is maximum usage of resources towards updating the affairs of law.
  3. Subject-expert faculties– These islands of law i.e. NLUs are known for the teaching faculties that are available for students. The professors teaching at NLUs are masters in their subject areas and have very high experience in research. Their pedagogy of teaching is unique and is appreciated by students. Moreover, NLUs also promote the culture of guest lectures in which the world’s best lawyers, judges, researchers, etc. take sessions with students and directly interact with them. This feature helps students in not limiting their knowledge to region-specific but rather understanding the law beyond borders.
  4. Career options and internal support– Most of the NLUs have a good alumni network. Having a good alumni network helps in getting several opportunities for students as it is easy to get a job recommendation or it is convenient to keep track of new job openings. Additionally, NLUs also have a placement committee as well as an internship committee that aid students in securing reputable internships and jobs. These committees help in engaging organizations that can offer jobs or internships to their students. With the help of this, students are often benefitted from their careers.
  5. Openness to participate- NLUs have a very transparent way of approaching any academic or non-academic activities. For any competition in which the university wishes to represent, a fair selection process takes place so that each student gets an equal opportunity to participate. Moreover, NLUs have more openness and participation in extra-curricular activities like moot court competitions, research paper writing competitions, debates, etc. This is because of the cohort as each student studying there carries the zeal to be the best. Due to this attitude, participation in such competitions is highly respected and promoted in NLUs. These participations help students in grooming and learning new skills.

Hence, NLUs are the hub of legal education and any student that wants to study law in India must target to clear the CLAT exam and get a good rank so that they can study in one of these prestigious universities.
