It was an experimental communication satellite that was launched by the Ariane launch vehicle of the European Space Agency (ESA) from French Guinea. It was India’s first three-axis stabilized experimental Geostationary Communication satellite.

Gandhi Peace Prize 2021
The jury headed by the Prime Minister, Sri Narendra Modi, decided to confer the Gandhi Peace Prize 2021 on Geeta Press, Gorakhpur, in recognition of its outstanding contribution towards social, economic, and political transformation through non-violent means. The Gandhi Peace Prize was instituted in 1995 on the occasion of the 125th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Geeta Press, Gorakhpur, is one of the largest publishers of the Bhagavad Gita, Upanishads, and Ramayana.
COP 28
Sultan Al Jaber is the President-designate of the Conference of Parties 28 to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). He is the incumbent Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology of the United Arab Emirates (UAE.) He is the Managing Director and Group CEO of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company. COP 28 is to be hosted in Dubai, UAE.
New Trend in Indian Cyclones
The North Indian Ocean is witnessing a declining number of cyclonic disturbances over the past four decades. It was mainly due to a rapid decrease in the frequency of cyclonic disturbances originating in the Bay of Bengal. On the contrary, the frequency of cyclones originating from the Arabian Sea has increased recently. Though the frequency of cyclones has decreased, the intensity of cyclones has increased in recent years due to climate change.
Indonesian Open 2023
Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty became the first pair from India to win a Super 1000 badminton event by winning the men’s doubles title at the Indonesian Open 2023. Victor Axelsen won his third consecutive men’s singles title, and China’s Chen Yu Fei won the women’s singles title at the Indonesian Open 2023.
Abhishek Verma clinches third World Cup in Archery.
Compound Archer, Abhishek Verma, won the men’s gold medal in the Archery World Cup Stage-3 at Medellin in Colombia. He defeated James Lutz to win his third World Cup gold in Archery.
