Eritrea, a country in the Horn of Africa, began voting on a referendum to declare independence from Ethiopia, after a nearly three-decade war of independence, on 23rd June 1993. Asmara is the capital and the largest city of Eritrea.

Manipur invokes RBI’s riot provisions to aid borrowers.
The Manipur Government has invoked a Reserve Bank of India (RBI) provision about restructuring and rescheduling loans to relieve borrowers when economic activities halt. The Manipur Government has declared that the whole State has been affected by riots and violence, impacting the economic activities and livelihood of the people. As per the 21st June 2023 order by the Chief Secretary of Manipur, the Reserve Bank of India (Relief Measures by Banks in Areas Affected by Natural Calamities) Directions, 2018, is applicable in Manipur.

Labour-20
The Labour 20 (L-20) is the meeting of the trade unions from G-20 countries, held in Patna, under the theme “Social Security & International Portability of Social Security Fund and Women and Future of Work.” The summit will be addressed by the Union Labour Minister, Sri Bhupendra Yadav, and the Union Minister of State for Labour, Sri Rameshwar Teli, and the Labour Minister of the State of Bihar, Sri Surendra Ram. Ms. Arti Ahuja, the incumbent Union Labour Secretary, will attend the meeting. The chairman of the meeting is Sri Hiranmaye Pandya, the incumbent President of the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh.

L&T and DRDO signed a pact to build AIP modules.
Larsen and Toubro and the Defence Research and Development Organisation have signed a contract for building two Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) System modules for the Kalvari-class of submarines for the Indian Navy. An AIP module extends the endurance of conventional submarines. It is a fuel cell-based AIP system core, indigenously developed by the Naval Materials Research Laboratory of the DRDO, with L&T as the prime industrial partner.

Rayaan wins bronze in the Asian Under-21 snooker.
India’s Rayaan Razmi won the bronze medal at the Asian Under-21 snooker in Tehran, Iran. Pakistan’s Ashan Ramzan emerged as the champion after defeating Milad Pourali Darehchi in the finals.
