Rajasthan Platform Based Gig Workers (Registration and Welfare) Bill, 2023
The Rajasthan Assembly passed the Rajasthan Platform Based Gig Workers (Registration and Welfare) Bill, 2023, which aims to extend social security to gig workers and create a regulatory framework for aggregators. It establishes a welfare board and a welfare fund for gig workers. The welfare fee for gig workers will be charged by aggregators, and a dispute resolution mechanism will be put in place. Penalties will be imposed on aggregators for violations.

Controlled Human Infection Studies (CHIS)
India’s Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) is taking its first steps to introduce Controlled Human Infection Studies (CHIS), a research model used in other countries for vaccine and treatment development. CHIS involves intentionally exposing healthy volunteers to pathogens in a controlled environment to study diseases like malaria, typhoid, and dengue. The ICMR’s Bioethics Unit has introduced a consensus policy statement on CHIS, addressing ethical concerns and the need for additional oversight and safeguards to protect study participants.

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) is working on implementing instantaneous settlements in secondary market trades, which could be completed in the next financial year. The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) is a statutory regulatory body established in 1992 to regulate the securities market and protect investors’ interests. It has quasi-judicial, quasi-executive, and quasi-legislative powers to maintain transparency, accountability, and fairness in the securities market. SEBI works to provide a marketplace for issuers to raise funds, ensure a professional and competitive market for intermediaries, and protect investors by supplying accurate information and formulating rules to prevent malpractices.

Meri Maati, Mera Desh campaign
The Union Government has launched the Meri Maati, Mera Desh campaign, under which soil collected from different parts of the country in August will be used to develop a garden along the Kartavya Path in Delhi.
