I-want-to-pursue-a-career-in-law

I took my 10th Boards this year and want to pursue a career in law. Which stream should I opt for? How should I start preparation for the CLAT and where do I start studying it from?

If you want to pursue law and write CLAT, you can choose any stream of your liking as CLAT does not mandate any specific stream. Usually, choosing Humanities/Arts is a common choice for students who want to enter this field. If you choose this stream, it can help you build a strong foundation for the exam as you will study subjects like Political Science and History, which can be beneficial from an exam’s perspective. Similarly, choosing commerce as your stream would also give an advantage, as you would get to study Economics and Maths, which are some of the important subjects in the exam. Otherwise, choosing science as your preferred steam is also beneficial as it would help you build an analytical bent of mind and help you in comprehending questions better. So, the bottom line being, pick a stream which closely aligns with your interests and also aligns with your career goals. Whatever you study in school, in some way or the other would help you in your law career.
Secondly, since you have about two years to prepare for the exam, below are some tips which you can follow:
1) Read a newspaper daily: Cultivating the habit of reading newspaper daily would help you in a lot of ways. Not only will it increase your reading speed, but will give you so much knowledge.
2) Understand the exam pattern and syllabus: This is just the right time for you to go through previous year question papers and thoroughly understand what kind of questions are asked in the exam. Analyze every question and try to solve them as well.
3) Have a study plan: With two years left of preparation, it is important to divide the work, so as to have a tailored approach towards your exam important. Remember, only regular studying will help you achieve your dream college.
4) Regular revision and practice: Practicing mock tests and quizzes would be really beneficial for you to analyze your weak areas. This way you will be more aware about what areas you need pay more attention to.

Two years is the ideal time to prepare for an exam like CLAT. You need to have a positive outlook and be steadfast in your resolve of achieving your dream. So, with the right mindset and the right approach, you can achieve anything you want. All the best!
