Rayagada Shawls and Kalajeera Rice
The handwoven Rayagada Shawls and the Koraput Kalajeera Rice from Odisha have received Geographical Indication (GI) tags. The Kapdaganda Shawls, crafted by the Dongria Kondhs of Rayagada district, are renowned for their intricate embroidery. Meanwhile, the Koraput Kalajeera Rice is a distinctive variety known for its black color, aromatic fragrance, delectable taste, and pleasing texture. Both these products hold significant cultural importance in Odisha’s heritage.
Nataraja statue
A 27-foot-tall Nataraja statue, crafted by Swamimalai artisans of Tamil Nadu, graces the G20 Summit venue. Cast using the ancient ‘lost-wax’ method in ashtadhatu alloy, it weighs 18 tonnes and required a 36-tire trailer for transportation. Created by Srikanda Sthapathy and brothers, the project cost Rs 10 crore, showcasing a fusion of tradition and modernity.
India – ASEAN Summit
ASEAN and India are collaborating to enhance cooperation in various aspects of agriculture. This includes food security, nutrition, trade supply chains, millet cultivation, and climate-friendly technologies. They aim to exchange policy frameworks for key crops, facilitate unhindered trade of agricultural inputs, and consider food grain exports for humanitarian aid. Additionally, they are keen on leveraging digital technologies for agricultural advancement.
Nation First Transit Card
The State Bank of India (SBI) has introduced the ‘Nation First Transit Card’ to enhance commuting and promote digital payments. This card enables easy digital fare payments for various modes of transportation, including metro, buses, water ferries, and parking, along with retail and e-commerce payments. SBI customers can use their Debit Cards for travel through the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) feature, which began on March 4, 2019, expanding convenience in metro rail and bus services.
