On March 28, 1979, the United States experienced the most serious nuclear accident in its history when the Three Miles Island Accident occurred in Pennsylvania, resulting from a partial meltdown of a nuclear reactor that released radioactive materials into the atmosphere.

SEBI to regulate index providers
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) is set to regulate index providers like NSE Indices and Asian Index Private Limited due to rising concerns about the safety of passive investors making investments in indices-linked funds.

Scotland’s youngest First Minister: Humza Yousaf
Humza Haroon Yousaf, a member of the Scottish National Party, became the youngest leader to be elected as the First Minister of Scotland, succeeding Nicola Sturgeon, who held the position since 2014. Yousaf is also the first person from a minority ethnic background to have this post.

Affinity Test
The Hon’ble Supreme Court of India recently ruled that affinity tests are not an essential part of the process for determining the correctness of caste or tribe claims. The test is based on ethnological and anthropological traits, marriage, death, burial method, rituals and customs, deities, etc., specific to the particular tribe or caste and an applicant’s knowledge about them. The court concluded that an applicant may possess knowledge about these traits without belonging to the particular caste or tribe.

Cheetah Sasha dies in Kuno Park.
Cheetah Sasha, one of the eight cheetahs translocated from Namibia in 2022 as part of the world’s first inter-continental project to reintroduce large wild carnivores, died in Madhya Pradesh’s Kuno National Park due to kidney ailments. The cheetah was declared extinct in India in 1952.

The Women’s Indian Premier League (IPL), a Twenty20 cricket franchise league in India owned and operated by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), recently concluded its inaugural edition, with the Mumbai Indians team emerging victorious.
