  • Ramsar Convention is an intergovernmental treaty under UNESCO that provides the framework for the conservation and wise use of wetlands and their resources<\/em>.<\/li>\n
  • Adopted in Ramsar (Iran) in 1971.<\/li>\n
  • Currently, there are 75 Ramsar sites in India.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Registered Unrecognised Political Parties (RUPPs)<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

    • The Election Commission of India(ECI) brought new rules for the allocation of symbols to RUPPs.<\/li>\n
    • The new rules mandate RUPPs to furnish the following along with application for symbols\n
        \n
      • Audited accounts of the last three financial years,<\/li>\n
      • Expenditure statements of last two elections<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
      • RUPPs are those which have not secured enough percentage of votes in the Assembly or general election to become a State party.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Direct-to-Cell\/ Direct-to-mobile\u00a0<\/u><\/h1>\n

        • Context<\/u><\/strong>:- SpaceX, an American company, launched the first batch of Starlink satellites with \u201cDirect-to-Cell\u201d capabilities.<\/li>\n
        • D2M (Direct-to-mobile) technology is a\u00a0new-age communication approach <\/u><\/strong>that combines broadband and broadcast.<\/li>\n
        • D2M allows\u00a0mobile phones to capture territorial digital TV signals,<\/u><\/strong>enabling the direct streaming of multimedia content, including live TV matches, without the need for internet connectivity.<\/li>\n
        • It is\u00a0similar to that of an FM radio<\/u><\/strong>, where a receiver within the device can tap into different radio frequencies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          • White goods<\/u><\/strong> refer to heavy consumer durables or large home appliances, which were traditionally available only in white. E.g. washing machines, air conditioners, etc.<\/li>\n
          • Veblen good:<\/u><\/strong> Their demand increases as the price increases due to their exclusivity. E.g. luxury cars<\/li>\n
          • Giffen goods:<\/u><\/strong> Their demand increases when prices increase due to lack of substitute for them. E.g. Wheat<\/li>\n
          • Sin goods<\/u><\/strong>: <\/strong>Considered harmful to society. E.g. Alcohol<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            Prerana Program<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

            • Ministry of Education launched the \u201cPrerana: An Experiential Learning program<\/em><\/u>\u201d to empower participants with leadership qualities<\/li>\n
            • It is a week-long residential program for selected students of class IX-XII.<\/li>\n
            • 20 Students are selected for each batch (10 boys and 10 girls)<\/li>\n
            • It is to run from a Vernacular School, in Vadnagar (Gujarat)<\/li>\n
            • The curriculum was prepared by IIT Gandhi Nagar based on nine value-based themes.<\/li>\n
