  • The Houthis, officially known as\u00a0Ansar Allah<\/u> (Partisans of God)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    • They are an\u00a0armed religious and political movement in Yemen.<\/li>\n
    • Houthis are Zaydi Shiites, or Zaydiyyah.<\/li>\n
    • Shiite Muslims are the\u00a0minority community in the Islamic world, and Zaydis are a minority of Shiites,<\/li>\n
    • Zaydis are significantly different in doctrine and beliefs from the Shiites who dominate in Iran, Iraq, and elsewhere.<\/li>\n
    • They are a\u00a0minority in Yemen(Sunni Majority country)<\/li>\n
    • Its members\u00a0advocate regional autonomy for Zaidis in northern Yemen.<\/li>\n
    • They have been\u00a0fighting Yemen\u2019s Sunni-majority government since 2004.<\/li>\n

      India is all set to begin the export of ground systems for the BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles to the Philippines.<\/p>\n

            PM YASASVI Scheme<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

            PM Young Achievers Scholarship Award Scheme<\/p>\n

            A total of \u20b932.44 Crore has been released for Pre-matric Scholarships and \u20b9387.27 Crore for Post-Matric Scholarships to States\/Union Territories (UTs) under the PM YASASVI scheme in 2023.<\/p>\n

            • It is a\u00a0scholarship scheme\u00a0for Other Backward Class (OBCs),\u00a0Economically Backward Class (EBC),\u00a0and\u00a0Denotified Nomadic Tribes (DNT) students.<\/li>\n
            • Eligibility:\n

              • Other Backward Class (OBC), Economically Backward Classes (EBC), and\u00a0Denotified, Nomadic, and Semi-Nomadic Tribes (DNT)<\/li>\n
              • Parents or guardians annual income is not more than Rs. 2.50 Lakhs.<\/li>\n
              • Studying in a Top Class School in Class 9 or 11.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
              • Entitlement:\u00a0Upto Rs. 75,000 p.a. for Class 9\/10,\u00a0Rs. 1,25,000 p.a. for Class 11\/12,\u00a0covering the school tuition fee\/hostel fee.<\/li>\n
              • Implementing Agency:\u00a0Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE)<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n
                  \n
                • The AISHE report has been\u00a0published by the Ministry of Education since 2011<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
                • Aim is to portray the status of higher education<\/strong>\u00a0in India.<\/li>\n
                • The survey\u00a0covers all the institutions<\/strong>\u00a0engaged in imparting higher education.<\/strong><\/li>\n
                • Data is being collected\u00a0on several parameters,<\/strong>\u00a0such as teachers, student enrollment, programmes, examination results, education finance, and infrastructure.<\/li>\n
                • Indicators of educational development such as Institution Density, Gross Enrolment Ratio, Pupil-teacher ratio, Gender Parity Index, Per Student Expenditure will also be calculated from the data collected through AISHE.<\/li>\n
                • For this survey,\u00a0Higher Education is <\/strong>\n
                    \n
                  • obtained after completing 12 years of schooling<\/strong>\u00a0or equivalent.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                    Key Points about AISHE 2021-22:<\/u><\/strong><\/h4>\n
                      \n
                    • In 2021-22, the\u00a0overall gross enrolment ratio (GER)<\/strong>in higher education for the age group 18-23 years\u00a0increased<\/strong>\u00a0to 28.4%, from 27.3%in 2020-\u00a021<\/strong>\u00a0and 23.7% in 2014- 15, the base year.<\/li>\n
                    • Female GER increased<\/strong>to 28.5% (2.07 crore) in 2021-22 from 27.9 (2.01 crore) in 2020-21 and 22.9 percent in 2014-15.<\/li>\n
                    • The GER of Schedule Caste (SC) and Schedule Tribe (ST)<\/strong>students has\u00a0also increased<\/strong>\u00a0by around 2%.\n
                        \n
                      • In 2020-21, the GER of SC students was 25.6% and ST was 23.4%, while in 2021-22 it increased to 27.2% and 25.8% respectively.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
                      • The\u00a0enrolment of OBC students has also increased <\/strong>to 1.63 crore in 2021-22 from 1.13 crore in 2014-15.<\/li>\n
                      • About\u00a09 per cent<\/strong>of the total students are\u00a0enrolled in undergraduate level<\/strong>\u00a0courses and 12.1 per cent are enrolled in postgraduate level courses.<\/li>\n
                      • Among disciplines at the undergraduate-level <\/strong>in AISHE 2021-22, enrolment is\u00a0highest in Arts<\/strong>\u00a0(34.2%),\u00a0followed by science<\/strong>\u00a0(14.8%), Commerce (13.3%), and Engineering and Technology (11.8%).<\/li>\n
                      • Among streams at postgraduate-level<\/strong>in AISHE 2021-22, maximum students are enrolled in\u00a0Social Science (21.1%),<\/strong>\u00a0followed by science (14.7).<\/li>\n
                      • As per the survey, the\u00a0total number of faculty\/teachers<\/strong>in 2021-22 is 15.98 lakh, of which about\u00a06% are male<\/strong> and <\/strong>43.4% are female.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
