                    Increased tenure of General Manoj Pandey<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

                    The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has extended the tenure of the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Manoj Pande, by one month, delaying his retirement from May 31 to June 30.
                    \nThis extension is unusual, as the normal term for service chiefs is until the age of 62 or three years, whichever comes first. The last instance of such an extension occurred in 1975 for General G.G. Bewoor.
