                The Home Minister on three new criminal laws<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

                • It will take up to three or four years for relevant \u2018technical aspects\u2019 of the legislation to become fully applicable;<\/li>\n
                • Laws are available in all languages in the Eighth Schedule<\/li>\n
                • After the full implementation the justice will be delivered within three years from FIR<\/li>\n
                • The new laws focus on justice not on punishment unlike the old laws enacted by the colonial powers for their interests<\/li>\n

                  Undecided boundaries for new census<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

                  • The Indian government has yet to decide on a new deadline for freezing administrative boundaries for the upcoming Census, which has already been extended nine times since December 2020.<\/li>\n
                  • This delay impacts the Census timeline, last conducted in 2011, and indirectly affects the implementation of the women’s reservation Act, which depends on Census data for delimitation exercises.<\/li>\n
                  • Without a clear deadline, the Census exercise could potentially begin in the next three to six months.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                    Notice to Union Govt. and Tamil Nadu Govt. on gender based discrimination<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

                    • The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued notices to the Union Ministry of Labour and Employment and the Tamil Nadu government, requesting detailed reports on allegations that Foxconn systematically excluded married women from employment at its Sriperumbudur iPhone assembly plant.<\/li>\n
                    • While Foxconn denies any discriminatory practices, the NHRC expressed serious concerns over potential violations of the right to equality and equal opportunity, emphasizing the need for adherence to both national and international gender equality standards.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                      Glossing over unemployment and need of a long term strategy<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

                      • The Indian economy requires 25 million-plus jobs to be generated over the next five years in order to employ all<\/li>\n
                      • GDP, grew at an impressively rapid pace of 8% last year but without jobs<\/li>\n
                      • According to latest official statistics, the unemployment rate for aged 15 years or above may have dipped from 4.2% in 2021 to 3.1% in 2023, but not commensurate with the rapid GDP growth rate of 8%.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                        Inequality gap is widening<\/strong><\/p>\n
