Bangladesh Army at odds with govt. on Myanmar corridor.<\/span><\/h3>\n

The Bangladesh Army has firmly opposed the interim government’s proposed humanitarian corridor to Myanmar\u2019s Rakhine province, citing threats to national security and sovereignty. In a Dhaka press briefing, it raised concerns over possible links with non-state actors like the Arakan Army and risks of increased arms and drug smuggling. Lt. Col. Islam emphasized the Army\u2019s coordination efforts since August 5 but rejected compromises on national interest. Army Chief General Zaman also criticized key decisions made without military consultation.<\/p>\n

India pushing back \u2018illegal\u2019 immigrants to Bangladesh. <\/span><\/h3>\n

On Sunday, 160 undocumented Bangladeshi immigrants, including women and children detained in outer Delhi, were flown from Ghaziabad to Agartala on an IAF plane. This move is part of the government’s plan to expedite the return of illegal immigrants to Bangladesh, avoiding lengthy deportation procedures. Earlier, on May 4, two Air India flights transported 300 undocumented Bangladeshis from Gujarat to Agartala, from where they were repatriated to Bangladesh via the land border.<\/p>\n

The CBSE has directed over 24,000 schools to create \u201cSugar Boards\u201d to raise awareness about the dangers of excess sugar. These boards show sugar content in popular drinks, safe daily intake levels, health risks, and healthy food options. The campaign, started by food influencer Revant Himatsingka, responds to a rise in Type-2 diabetes among children due to sugary diets. FSSAI and NCPCR are also working on rules and awareness, as India lacks sugar intake guidelines tailored to its population.<\/p>\n

SC Collegium recommends three judges to top court.<\/span><\/h3>\n

The Supreme Court of India currently has 31 judges against its sanctioned strength of 34, which will reduce to 30 after Justice Bela Trivedi\u2019s retirement on June 9. The Collegium, led by CJI B.R. Gavai, has recommended Justices N.V. Anjaria, Vijay Bishnoi, and A.S. Chandurkar for elevation. This is the first resolution under CJI Gavai. Despite the summer break, senior judges are hearing cases. Justice Nagarathna is set to become India\u2019s first woman Chief Justice in 2027.<\/p>\n
