The Good Friday Agreement, also known as the Belfast Agreement, is a peace agreement signed on April 10, 1998, in Northern Ireland. The agreement ended decades of conflict between the Protestant and Catholic communities in Northern Ireland, known as “The Troubles.” It established a power-sharing government between unionist and nationalist parties to end violence and sectarianism.<\/p>\n

International Big Cat Alliance
\n<\/strong>The International Big Cats Alliance will focus on protecting and conservating seven significant big cats of the world: Tiger, Lion, Leopard, Snow Leopard, Puma, Jaguar, and Cheetah. It will aim to curb poaching and illegal wildlife trade in Asia. It was launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Sri Narendra Modi<\/em>, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Project Tiger.<\/p>\n

The Language Friendship Bridge
\n<\/strong>The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) has envisaged a unique project called ‘The Language Friendship Bridge,’ which aims to train five to 10 people in the official languages of Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan, and Indonesia to facilitate better people-to-people exchanges. The project will include ten languages spoken in these countries, which includes Kazakh, Uzbek, Bhutanese, Ghoti (spoken in Tibet), Burmese, Khmer (spoken in Cambodia), Thai, Sinhalese, and Bahasa (spoken in both Indonesia and Malaysia).<\/p>\n

International Prize in Statistics awarded to C.R. Rao
\n<\/strong>The Indian-American statistician Calyampudi Radhakrishna Rao<\/em> was awarded the 2023 International Prize in Statistics- the equivalent of the Nobel Prize for Statistics. The International Prize in Statistics Foundation awards it once every two years to an individual or team for “major achievements using statistics to advance science, technology, and human welfare.”<\/p>\n

India’s tiger population tops 3000
\n<\/strong>According to the 5th cycle of the All-India Tiger Estimation, India’s tiger population has shown significant growth. The report reveals that India has a minimum of 3,167 tigers, which constitutes 75% of the global tiger population. The Shivalik Hills and Gangetic flood plains have seen the most significant growth in the tiger population, while the Western Ghats have witnessed a decline. The 5th cycle of the estimation has shown a substantial increase from the 2018 tiger population of 2,967.<\/p>\n

Orleans Masters 2023
\n<\/strong>Priyanshu Rajawat from Madhya Pradesh won his maiden World Tour Super 300 title after defeating Magnus Johannesen of Denmark to win the men’s singles title at the Orleans Masters 2023.<\/p>\n
