The Jallianwala Bagh Massacre, also known as the Amritsar Massacre, occurred on April 13, 1919, in Amritsar, Punjab. The British army troops, under the command of General Reginald Dyer, opened fire on a crowd of unarmed Indian civilians, killing at least 379 people and injuring more than 1,200. The crowd had gathered to protest against the arrest of the nationalist leaders, Dr. Satya Pal and Saifuddin Kitchlew.<\/p>\n

\n<\/strong>The Consumer Price Inflation (CPI) touched 5.66% in March 2023 due to base effects. It slid below the 6% mark for the first time in 2023. CPI (Rural) dropped to 5.51% from 6.72% in February 2023. But the urban inflation dropped marginally to 5.89% from 6.1% in February 2023.<\/p>\n
