On 15th April, 1912, the RMS Titanic, a British luxury passenger liner, sank in the North Atlantic Ocean during its maiden voyage from Southampton to New York City. The ship hit an iceberg, and the ship began to sink rapidly, killing 1,500 people on the board.<\/p>\n

Ambedkar Circuit Train launched to boost tourism.
\n<\/strong>The first Ambedkar Circuit Tourist Train was launched under the \u2018Dekho Apna Desh\u2019<\/em> initiative is an eight-day tour which will include visit to places like Mhow, New Delhi, Nagpur and the sacred Buddhist sites such as Gaya, Sanchi, Sarnath, Rajgir and Nalanda, to give glimpses of life of Bharat Ratna<\/em> Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar<\/em>. It was launched by the Union Ministry of Culture on the occasion of the Ambedkar Jayanti, celebrated every year on 14th April.<\/p>\n

NISAR Satellite to map seismic zones in Himalayas
\n<\/strong>NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) Satellite is designed to observe and to measure some of the most complex processes on the Earth. It will also map the most earthquake-prone regions in Himalayas. The data generated will be helpful in advance warning of land subsidence, and places with high risk of seismic activities. The project is expected to cost $900 million and is expected to be launched in January, 2024.<\/p>\n

Textile, apparel exports decline 14%
\n<\/strong>Exports of apparel and textiles slumped to $35.5 billion in 2022-23, as compared with $41.3 billion in 2021-22. The decline of 14% was mainly due to high cotton prices in India and inventory with international buyers. Apparel and textile sector contributed 7.95% of total goods export in FY 2022-23.<\/p>\n

Northeast gets its first AIIMS
\n<\/strong>Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in the Northeast at Changsari<\/em> near Guwahati in Assam. It has a capacity of 750 beds including 30 AYUSH beds and will admit 100 MBBS students every year. He also initiated the Assam Advanced Healthcare Innovation Institute in IIT Guwahati for promoting research and innovation in medical sciences.<\/p>\n

Drones to deliver life-saving drugs to the Char Dham<\/em> pilgrims
\n<\/strong>According to the Union Health Ministry, drones will be used to deliver life-saving drugs to Char Dham pilgrims in Uttarakhand. It will include Badrinath, Kedarnath, Yamunotri and Gangotri in Uttarakhand, all pilgrim sites in Uttarakhand at an altitude of 10,000 feet.<\/p>\n
