The Challenger Expedition, an oceanographic exploration cruise by the British Admiralty and the Royal Society, concluded successfully on 26th May 1876. The expedition mainly focused on deep-sea exploration and scientific study of the ocean floor.<\/p>\n

China constructing Xiaokang<\/em> opposite the LAC.
\n<\/strong>As per the official sources, China is building a network of model villages named Xiaokang<\/em>, opposite the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Barahoti, Tholing, and Kameng regions of the Middle and Eastern sectors. In addition, new posts are coming up six or seven kilometers from the LAC in the middle sector. Also, the People\u2019s Liberation Army\u2019s (PLA) patrol frequency has increased.<\/p>\n

Bima Trinity.
\n<\/strong>The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA) is devising a new affordable bundled insurance product, Bima Vistaar<\/em>, protecting against multiple risks, and expedite claim settlements. Bima Sugam<\/em> portal is a one-stop shop for customers, integrating insurers and distributors. Bima Vaahak<\/em> is a women-led campaign for insurance penetration in each Gram Sabha. Bima Vistaar<\/em>, Bima Vaahak<\/em> and Bima Sugam<\/em> portal comprises Bima Trinity.<\/p>\n

SPG is to be headed by an ADG rank officer.
\n<\/strong>As per the new rules notified by the Union Home Ministry, the Director of the Special Protection Group (SPG) shall be appointed by the Union Government \u201cat a level of not less than the Additional-Director General of Police (ADG) from the Indian Police Service.\u201d The Special Protection Group (Amendment) Act 2019 limited the SPG protection only to the Prime Minister and their immediate family members residing in the Prime Minister’s official residence.<\/p>\n

Project Cheetah
\n<\/strong>Following the death of three cheetah cubs within a week, the Union Government has constituted the 11-member Cheetah Project Steering Committee to oversee the implementation of Project Cheetah. Rajesh Gopal, Secretary-General of Global Tiger Forum, will lead the committee. The committee will be in force for two years, convene at least one monthly meeting, and conduct field visits to Kuno National Park.<\/p>\n

DGCA seeks Go First\u2019s revival plan in 30 days.
\n<\/strong>The Director General of Civil Aviation has asked to GO First to submit a comprehensive revival plan within 30 days furnishing details of the availability of operational aircraft, pilots, funding, and arrangements with lessors and vendors.<\/p>\n
