It had previously gained the status of an Independent State under Denmark by the Act of Union, 1918. 17th June is also celebrated as <em>&#8220;Thjodhatidardagurinn<\/em>,&#8221; which means the day of national celebrations.<\/p>\n<h2>Summary of Today&#8217;s News<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML)<br \/>\n<\/strong>The Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML) will be renamed the Prime Ministers Museum and Library Society. NMML is an autonomous body under the Government of India. It is housed in <em>Teen Murti<\/em> House, which served as the residence of the first Prime Minister of India, (L) <em>Jawahar Lal Nehru<\/em>. It aims to promote advanced research on modern and contemporary India.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Warming oceans making difficult to forecast cyclones in the Arabian Sea.<br \/>\n<\/strong>The steering wind component of the cyclone, which influence the cyclone&#8217;s direction, is partially captured in the IMD models, predicting cyclones originating in the Arabian Sea difficult. Moreover, the Arabian Sea has a much deeper layer of warm water (40 meters deep) compared to the Bay of Bengal, which are not captured in the prediction models. Hence, the speed and strength of the cyclone are not captured accurately in advance.<\/p>\n<p><strong>International Year of Millets.<br \/>\n<\/strong>The Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) has declared 2023 as the International Year of Millets. To promote the benefits of millets and their role in alleviating global hunger, the Prime Minister of India, <em>Sri Narendra Modi<\/em>, has collaborated with the Grammy award-winning Indian-American singer Falguni Shah for a special song, <em>&#8216;Abundance in Millets<\/em>,&#8217; which was released on 16th June 2023 in English and Hindi, and translated into other regional languages.<\/p>\n<p><strong>International <em>Yoga<\/em> Day celebrations at the UN headquarter.<br \/>\n<\/strong>The Prime Minister, <em>Sri Narendra Modi<\/em>&#8216;s State Visit to the U.S.A will begin in New York, where he will lead the International <em>Yoga<\/em> Day celebrations at the United Nations headquarters in Manhattan, New York. International <em>Yoga<\/em> Day has been celebrated worldwide on 21st June since 2015. <em>Yoga<\/em> is an ancient practice in India that aims to bring together mind and body through exercises and meditation.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/VieBXMlMlf8\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today in History (June 17th, 1944) On 17th June 1944, Iceland declared itself an independent republic after holding a referendum.
